The final season shows the two major conflicts: the Great War against the Army of the Dead, and the Last War for control of the Iron Throne. In the first half of the season, Jon, Dany, and many of the main characters converge at Winterfell to face the Dead. The second half of the season resumes the war for the throne as Daenerys suffers losses until she finally assaults King's Landing upon Drogon, her last dragon. [Source]

What happend to Jon Snow?
Jon ended up as a prisoner, held by the Unsullied , because he killed Daenerys. Even though he seemed to be largely forgiven for his actions by the various powers of Westeros, save for Yara Greyjoy and the Unsullied, the Unsullied would not agree to his release.
The Unsullied (Astapori Valyrian: Dovoghedhi) are elite warrior-eunuchs bred and trained in Astapor.
Lady Yara Greyjoy is the Lady of the Iron Islands and Lady Reaper of Pyke.
